Levels and Varieties of Classes
CLASS TYPES
We have three types of classes: weekly drop in classes, series, and workshops.
Regular weekly classes are on the ”Drop In Classes” schedule page and no registrations is requried. Please read the class description to ensure the class is appropriate for your level of experience (see below for more details on levels of classes).
Series classes are 4-8 week classes that progress each week, building on the knowledge and skills learned the prior week. Series classes are found on the “Series and Workshops” schedule page and require preregistration. Drop ins to series classes are only allowed if specifically indicated in the class description.
Workshops are one-time classes on a specific topic. These specialty classes typically delve into a subject more deeply. They require preregistration and are found on the “Series and Workshops” schedule page.
CLASS LEVELS
We have four levels of classes: Beginner, All Levels Yoga, Yoga, and Continuing Level Yoga.
Please read our class descriptions carefully. To be in any level beyond Beginner or All Levels, it is essential to have the specific knowledge, experience, and developed skill in the level prior. All of our instructors have the skills to adjust the practice to each student regardless of their physical condition. However, please sign up for the appropriate level so we can develop your practice appropriate to your needs.
Beginning Yoga (Found on the ”Series and Workshops” Schedule Page)
Our beginning classes are typically taught as an 8-week series and they are the foundation of our yoga programs. They introduce yoga’s philosophical system, basic sitting and standing poses and alignment fundamentals. Students will learn beginning prop use, preparatory work, and modifications. This course is also an excellent option for students with back problems, injuries, etc. These series start at the beginning and progress each week, refining the poses, adding new poses, and adding relaxation techniques. No experience necessary.
All Levels Yoga (Found on the “Drop In Classes” and “Series and Workshops” Schedule Page) Our all level classes are beginner-friendly, but also have more advanced students in the same class. No experience necessary.
Yoga (Found on the “Drop In Classes” Schedule Page) Our Yoga level classes require two months experience. This is typically one beginners series, or equivalent.
Continuing Level Yoga (Found on the “Drop In Classes” Schedule Page) Our Continuing level classes are require six months alignment-based yoga experience. These classes will also have a greater likelihood of practicing inversions and more advanced poses.
NOTE: Prenatal, Gentle Yoga, and Men’s Yoga are also found on the “Series and Workshops” schedule page.
